Womens Health - How To Protect Your Skin Using Anti Aging Skincare ProductsWomen Health 1

As you get older, your skin tends to show more and more wear. This can be caused by sun exposure, lifestyle habits, the wrong skincare products, and inadequate hygiene just to mention some of the things. All these things can cause damaged skin. At this point, you should be looking into anti aging skincare products.

Sun Exposure
The UVA and UVB rays from the sun can have devastating effects on the skin. It can dry the skin to the point that it starts to wrinkle, have fine lines and other signs of aging. In addition, both types of rays can cause skin cancer with the UVA ones being most harmful, because they reach deep into the layers of the skin.

The way to protect yourself from these rays is to make sure you apply sunscreen to your skin every 2 hours when you are outside or use beauty products that have sunscreen in them. The best sunscreen for anti aging purposes is one that is SPF 30 or above and is effective on not only the UVB rays, but also the UVA rays. Do not expose your skin to the sun for longer than about 20 minutes at a time without sunscreen.

Lifestyle Habits
Lifestyle habits such as smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol can cause the skin to age before its time. These activities rob the body of precious nutrients that the skin needs to be supple and youthful looking.

The anti aging advice here is to kick the smoking habit completely and limit your drinking of alcohol to only once or twice a week and then only in moderation. Take a multivitamin to replace the nutrients that could be lost.

In addition, eating the wrong foods can cause damaged skin. If you are not feeding your body the right nutrients, it cannot function correctly. This means you need to eat a well-balanced diet of healthy, nutritious foods and drink sufficient water each day.

Wrong Skincare Products
Using the wrong skincare products for your skin can cause damaged skin. If you skin is dry and you use products that are meant for oily skin, this can dry out your skin even further. However, if you use products meant for dry skin on oily skin, you could make it oilier. This could cause acne to occur, which can leave scars in some cases.

Make sure to use the right skincare products for you type of skin. This is crucial to having undamaged skin. In addition, make sure there is no alcohol or artificial fragrances in these product, because these can cause drying and irritation.

Inadequate Hygiene
If you do not wash your skin enough, the pores can become clogged. This can set up the perfect conditions for acne to occur. Acne can be terribly scarring as was briefly mentioned earlier. These scars make you look older than you actually are.

You can also get skin rashes and other disorders. Your facial skin should be gently cleansed at least twice a day with the rest of your body being washed at least once a day with a facial and body wash. On the face, a toner can be used to return the skin to its normal pH. Then a moisturizer specifically designed for you type of skin should be applied. This will act as an anti aging treatment.

Folic Acid during Pregnancy
Folic acid
Vitamin C

Taking a folic acid supplement before you're pregnant and until the12th week of your pregnancy is really important  because it reduces the chances of your baby being born with a neural tube defect such as spina bifida -a birth defect where the spine doesn't form properly.
You should start to take folic acid (400 micrograms a day) when you're planning to become pregnant. But if you didn't take folic acid before you conceived, you should start taking it as soon as you know you're pregnant, and carry on until your 12th week of pregnancy. (It's also safe to carry on taking folic acid past the 12th week of pregnancy.)
As well as taking a supplement you should also try to eat plenty of foods containing folate-the natural form of folic acid. Good food sources of folate include broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, spring greens, peas, chickpeas, and granary and wholemeal breads. Folic acid is also added to some foods such as breakfast cereals.
Important:Women who have already had a pregnancy affected  by a neural tube defect need to take 5mg of folic acid each day until the 12th week of their pregnancy.
In addition, women who have diabetes and those taking anti-epileptic medicines should consult their GP for advice as they may need to take a higher dose.
